Højer water tower
The Højer water tower is a former water tower in Højer in Højer Sogn in Tønder Kommune , which belongs to the Syddanmark region.
history
The 20 meter high water tower was built in brick in 1934 and resembled the water towers at Tønder , Løgumkloster and Toftlund . It is said to have been drawn by the architect LP Aakjær and lies at a height of five meters above sea level.
In 2012, Højer received a grant of 900,000 crowns to maintain the tower. After the Kulturarvsstyrelsen , the tower makes a positive contribution to the cityscape.
In 2013, Foreningen Højer Vandtårn was founded, which took over the tower from Tønder Vandforsyning ( German water supply Tondern ) and provided it with a 34-meter-long spiral staircase and a viewing platform to use it as a viewing tower . The tower was put back into operation in this function on September 26, 2015.
