Marcus Wagner (economist)

Marcus Wagner (* 1973 in Northeim ) is a German economist and holder of the chair for innovation and international management at the University of Augsburg .

Life

Marcus Wagner studied process engineering and economics. He received his doctorate in 2003 from the University of Lüneburg . After completing his habilitation in business administration at the Technical University of Munich , he accepted an appointment at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , where he held the chair for business start-ups and management from 2009 to 2014. He was a member of the Biotechnology Advisory Board of the German Federal Environment Foundation (2009 to 2010) and the program commission of the 75th Annual Meeting of the Association of University Professors in Business Administration (2012 to 2013) and is an associated member of the Bureau d'Economie Théorique et Appliquée in Strasbourg. In 2014 he followed a call to the University of Augsburg . From 2012 to 2018 he was visiting professor at the International Hellenic University .

Marcus Wagner has published in well-known journals on a range of business topics, including the Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, Long Range Planning and Research Policy. In the Handelsblatt Business Economics Ranking 2012, which analyzes the research performance of 2,100 business economists in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland based on the quality of the publications, it was ranked 5th in terms of current research performance. In the Handelsblatt Business Administration Ranking 2014, it was ranked 4th (Current research achievement) or place 24 (life's work in research).

Honors

In 2006, Marcus Wagner was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission.
