MARELLI is a Japanese - Italian automotive supplier that was formed in 2019 from the merger of Calsonic Kansei and Magneti Marelli .

Powertrain internal combustion engines
Marelli is one of the largest suppliers of fuel injection systems for internal combustion engines. The development of the diesel direct injection engine in passenger cars in the 1980s and the common rail injection system in the 1990s were both under the leadership of the Italian company Magneti Marelli. The Fiat Croma with Magneti-Marelli equipment was the first passenger car with direct diesel injection in 1987 - a year before the Audi 100 TDI. In 2009 this division contributed around 850 million euros to group sales.

The electric drive segment has been developing since the company merged to form Marelli.
Cockpit, interior
For the corporate division of instrument clusters, the Veglia Borletti company was once incorporated into the group. Instruments are also sold under the Jaeger name , a brand that shares roots with the luxury watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre .
Spare parts and accessories
In the worldwide distribution of spare parts, the company generated sales of 340 million euros in 2012 with 585 employees in South America , Europe and the USA .
Vehicle exterior lighting
In 1999 Magneti Marelli and Bosch merged their lighting divisions in a joint venture and founded their joint subsidiary Automotive Lighting , in which they each held a 50% stake. After two years, Bosch reduced its stake to 25% and finally sold its remaining shares in Magneti Marelli in 2003. Since then, this company with its headquarters in Reutlingen has been the division with the highest sales in the group and achieved sales of around 4 billion euros in 2016. Around 18,000 people are employed in 2 development centers, 13 application centers and 23 production facilities around the world.
Motorsport
Marelli is also active as a supplier in motorsport . Among other things, the company has already equipped the Formula 1 teams from Ferrari , Renault , Toyota , Red Bull Racing and BMW-Sauber and has been supplying the standard electronics for the MotoGP class of the motorcycle world championship since 2016 .

Marelli was created in 2019 from the merger of the predecessor companies Calsonic Kansei and Magneti Marelli . For the takeover of Magneti Marelli, Calsonic Kansei paid 5.8 billion euros to the previous owner Fiat-Chrysler .

Calsonic Kansei ( Japanese カ ル ソ ニ ッ ク カ ン セ イ 株式会社 ) is a Japanese automotive supplier that was formed in 2000 from the merger of the companies Calsonic and Kansei . The company produces various parts for the automotive industry, including information panels , exhaust and air conditioning systems and other electronic components. Calsonic Kansei was listed until 2017. KKR acquired and delisted was. The former largest shareholder Nissan had already tendered its shares to KKR at this point in time.
Magneti Marelli
Magneti Marelli was an Italian automotive supplier founded in 1919 and part of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles automotive group . The company primarily manufactured electrical and electronic components for the automotive industry .
The name is derived from magnetic items that were and are installed in automobiles and motorcycles in the form of ignition systems , ignition coils and generators ( alternators ).
