From 1973 to 1983, the nursing university bachelor's degree was initially introduced as a model degree. The World Health Organization had an advisory role in this model course. In 1980 Marga Thome acquired the title of lecturer, between 2003 and 2006 she was the first dean of the nursing faculty and in 2006 she was appointed to a professorship there. She held this position until her retirement in 2012.
