Ellen Margaret Eaton, Baroness Eaton (born June 1, 1942 in Bradford , England ) is a British politician with the Conservative Party .

biography

She was born in 1942 to John and Evelyn Midgley. She graduated from Balls Park Teacher Training College and worked as a teacher. In 1969 she married John Eaton and they have a son and a daughter.

Political career

From 1986 she was a member of the city council of Bradford , was there from 1995 party leader of the Conservatives and was 2000 to 2006 city council chairman. She subsequently became a member of the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Assembly , was Vice-Chair and Chair of the Local Government Association from 2008 to 2011, a member of the Committee of the Regions from 2003 to 2006 , Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire from 2008 and Chair from 2008 to 2011 the Local Government Association .

On July 21, 2010, she was promoted to Life Peeress with the title Baroness Eaton , of Cottingley in the County of West Yorkshire . A seat in the House of Lords is associated with the title .
