Margaret Mhango Mwanakatwe (born November 1, 1961 ) is a Zambian politician of the Patriotic Front (PF).

Life

Margaret Mhango Mwanakatwe completed a degree in business administration , which she completed with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). After being admitted as a Chartered Certified Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), she worked as an auditor. She worked for the British universal bank Barclays for several years, where she was Managing Director of the Barclays Bank of Zambia between 2001 and 2008 and also Managing Director of Barclays Bank of Ghana PLC from 2004 to 2009 . She then acted as Managing Director of United Bank for Africa in Uganda from March 2009 to May 2011 and, between 2011 and 2015, Director of Corporate Development in the English-speaking countries at the United Bank for Africa headquarters in Lagos .

After President Edgar Lungu took office in January 2015, she was named as the representative of the Patriotic Front (PF) for one of the eight presidential seats in the National Assembly of Zambia . At the same time, she was appointed by the President in February 2015 to succeed Robert Sichinga as Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Industry in his cabinet .

In the election on August 11, 2016, she was elected as a PF candidate to the National Assembly, where she represents the constituency of Lusaka Central . At the same time he reappointed her as Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Industry in his cabinet.
