Margaret Morse Nice
Margaret Morse Nice (born December 6, 1883 in Amherst (Massachusetts) , † June 26, 1974 in Chicago ) was an American ornithologist and university teacher.
Life
Margaret Morse Nice was the daughter of Anson D. Morse and Margaret Duncan. She had three older and three younger siblings. In 1908 she married Leonard Blaine Nice and in 1911 and 1922 they had five children; her husband died two months before her.
She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1906 and graduated from Clark University in 1915 with a degree in biology . It was around this time that she also did a study on Virginia quail . Until 1927 she researched birds in Oklahoma. Then she got a professorship at Ohio State University . She carried out further research on birds, particularly song bunting . Her awards include admission to the ornithological societies of various countries.
