Margarete Jarchow

Margarete Jarchow (* 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German art historian .

Life

After graduating from the Bertha-Lyceum Hamburg in 1975, she studied art history and philosophy , pedagogy , archeology , economics and Japanese studies in Hamburg and London from 1976 to 1984 . In 1978/1979 she completed the "Works of Art" course at Sotheby’s London. After completing her doctorate in art history with Martin Warnke in 1984 , she did a research stay at the Royal College of Art London in 1988 . In 1990 she received the Prince Louis Ferdinand Prize. In 1994 she successfully completed the habilitation process and became a private lecturer in art history at the University of Hamburg . In the summer semester of 1996 she did a research stay at the Institute for Advanced Study . Since 1999 she has been teaching as visiting professor for cultural studies at the TUHH. Since 2000, she has been a professor of humanities at the TUHH and also a key professor of humanities at the Northern Institute of Technology Management .
