Margaretha Susanna von Kuntsch , b. Förster, (born September 7, 1651 in Allstedt , † March 27, 1717 in Altenburg ) was a German writer .

Life

Margaretha Susanna von Kuntsch was born as the daughter of a lawyer and court official in Allstedt and grew up in Altenburg. In her youth, she received intermittent lessons in Latin and French, which, however, were soon viewed as unsuitable for a middle-class girl. She was now trained in all Christian virtues and feminine work. On August 24, 1669 she married the councilor Christoph von Kuntsch (1640–1724), with whom she first moved to Eisleben and later back to Altenburg, where she spent the rest of her life and died in 1717.

Margaretha Susanna von Kuntsch wrote numerous poems that often dealt with the death of her children. Of eight sons and six daughters, only one daughter survived. The lyrical genres are diverse. In addition to madrigals , sonnets and odes , cantatas and even an operetta can be found in her work. After Margaretha Susanna von Kuntsch's death, her grandson Christoph Gottlieb Stockmann published her poems in 1720.
