Margarethe is a disused treasure trove in the Johanngeorgenstadt mountain area in the Saxon Ore Mountains .

history

In the upper valley of the Steinbach , at the Sauschwemme and at the Auersberg , several treasure troves have been operated since the 16th century to mine the iron stone inflow that extends in this area . This also included the Margarethe treasure trove , which was the southernmost. The former hut house still exists today along with the remains of the associated dump on Eibenstocker Strasse in Steinbach near Johanngeorgenstadt , which is now used for residential purposes after it was last used as a stamp mill and laundry for the Wilder Mann treasure trove . Remnants of the Wildemann laundry trench, which was branched off from the Steinbach, can still be seen in the area today.
