Gondramaz is a Portuguese village in the parish ( Freguesia ) of Vila Nova , in the district ( concelho ) of Miranda do Corvo .

geography

The village is 9 km south of the district town of Miranda do Corvo, and about 30 km southeast of the district capital Coimbra . It is about 600 m above sea level on an elevation of the Serra da Lousã , a foothill of the Iberian Divide Mountains .

Culture and sights

It is one of the traditional slate villages in the region, and belongs to the nationally advertised route of the Aldeias do Xisto . However, due to its particularly remote position, it is a little less visited than the other villages on the route, which are not based on mass tourism anyway. Besides locals, Spaniards are the largest group of visitors. GPS hiking, mountain bike tours and rock climbing are popular on the paths in the surrounding nature, and guided tours with local guides are possible.

In the village, the contemporary restored house Pátio do Xisto (backyard of the slate), partly carved into the rock, offers overnight accommodation as part of the rural tourism , and also functions as a restaurant. Other hotels or restaurants can only be found in the surrounding areas.
