Sarzedas is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Castelo Branco . It has 1,335 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
history
In order to promote the settlement of the area, the place received city rights ( Foral ) for the first time in 1212 . In 1512 King Manuel I renewed the town charter . Until the administrative reforms in 1836, Sarzedas was the seat of an independent district and was again a year later. After a decision by Queen Maria II , the Sarzedas district was finally dissolved in 1848 and incorporated as a simple municipality into the Castelo Branco district.
