Martim Branco is a village in the central Portuguese municipality ( Freguesia ) of Almaceda , in the district ( Concelho ) of Castelo Branco .
It is 11 km south of Almaceda, and 20 km northeast of Castelo Branco.
It is known for its slate architecture, and is considered an authentically preserved, traditional village. In particular, its communal ovens and traditional bread are often mentioned in connection with the place.
Martim Branco belongs to the route of the slate villages, the Aldeias do Xisto .
