Casal de São Simão is a small, central Portuguese village in the municipality ( Freguesia ) of Aguda , in the district ( concelho ) of Figueiró dos Vinhos .
The place essentially consists of just one street with a few side streets, and is known for its original building fabric, especially with the use of slate . It belongs to the route of the slate villages, the Aldeias do Xisto .
Nature hikes and mountain bike competitions take place on the hiking trails that run through the wooded and watercourses surrounding the area.
In the village, a village shop sells handicrafts and local specialties, and there is also a restaurant with an outdoor terrace.
With the Fragas de São Simão there is a river bath on the Rio Alge below the village.
The traditional gastronomy of the place is also mentioned nationwide.
