Margarethe Jochimsen

Margarethe Jochimsen , b. Müller, (born August 14, 1931 ; † September 15, 2016 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German curator , art critic and museum director.

Live and act

Margarethe Müller studied political science and art history. In 1961 she married the politician Reimut Jochimsen (1933–1999), with whom she had a daughter and a son. From 1978 to 1986, Margarethe Jochimsen, with a doctorate in art history, was the director of the Bonner Kunstverein and its chairwoman until 1996. In 1988 she was the initiator of the rescue of August Macke's house in Bonn; subsequently she was founding director of the August Macke Haus in 1991 and managed it until 2002. Among other things, she was the editor of the series of publications of the August Macke Haus association.
