Goldberg & Sons (proper spelling: GOLDBERG or GOLDBERG & Sons) is a bitter lemonade brand of the MBG Group . The brand primarily focuses on gastronomy, but has also been available in German food retailers since 2017.

Goldberg & Sons is currently represented in 27 countries.

history

Founder of the brand is the Frankfurter Sodawasserfabrikant Jacob M. Goldberg, the beginning of the 20th century by British India emigrated to there pharmaceutical tinctures manufacture, in particular for the prophylaxis example of tropical diseases such as malaria should serve. He chose a hunting dog as his trademark as a symbol of loyalty, maximum performance and speed.

Product launches

In 2013, MBG introduced the Goldberg & Sons brand in Germany. Initially, the varieties " Bitter Lemon ", " Tonic Water ", " Ginger Ale " and "Intense Ginger" were offered. Four more varieties came onto the market by 2017: “ Soda Water ” - 2014, “Bone Dry Tonic” - 2015, “Japanese Yuzu Tonic” - 2016 and “Indian Hibiscus Tonic” - 2017 in Germany (2013 in Dubai).

After the Regional Court of Munich in July 2017 once again permitted the use of the name Ginger Beer for non-alcoholic drinks, which had been prohibited in Germany since 2012 , the “Intense Ginger” variety has been marketed as “Ginger Beer” since 2018.

MBG has been offering alcohol-containing premix cans with mixers of the brand since 2014 . In 2014, the “Bitter Lemon & Vodka” variety with Goldberg “Bitter Lemon” was integrated into the premix can range with Three Sixty Vodka introduced in 2010 . In 2017 the Goldberg premixes "Gin & Tonic" and "Moscow Mule" were introduced. In 2019, MBG stopped selling the three- sixty mixed drinks and rearranged the premix range. Since then, “Gin & Tonic”, “Vodka & Lemon”, “Vodka & Maracuja” and “Moscow Mule” have been available in a new design as Goldberg & Sons premixes.

In 2013, MBG signed a distribution agreement with Lufthansa , which has since been offering branded beverages on its flights in 0.15L cans, the so-called Aviator Edition, specially developed for on-board business. Goldberg & Sons replaced the Schweppes and Kinley brands here . The cans have also been available on TUIfly flights since 2014 ; airberlin also listed Goldberg from 2014.

Since 2017, companies in the German food retail sector have also been listing products from the brand.

Products

The lemonades from Goldberg & Sons are available in the varieties "Tonic Water", "Bitter Lemon", "Ginger Ale", "Ginger Beer", "Soda Water", "Bone-Dry Tonic", "Indian Hibiscus Tonic" and " Japanese Yuzu Tonic ”available. All eight varieties are offered in 0.2L glass serving bottles; “Tonic Water”, “Bitter Lemon”, “Ginger Ale”, “Ginger Beer” and “Soda Water” are also available in 1L and 0.5L PET bottles.

The varieties “Tonic Water”, “Bitter Lemon”, “Ginger Ale”, “Ginger Beer” and “Soda Water” are also offered in 0.15L cans of the “Aviator Edition” specially developed for airline business.

Alcohol-containing 0.33L premix cans of the brand are available in the variants "Gin & Tonic", "Moscow Mule", "Vodka & Lemon" and "Vodka & Maracuja".

Awards

In the year the brand was launched (2013), the bottle design from Goldberg & Sons received the Red Dot Design Award .

The “Japanese Yuzu Tonic” from Goldberg & Sons was awarded the German Design Award 2020 in the “Excellent Communications Design - Packaging” category. In 2015 the first four varieties of the brand ("Tonic Water", "Bitter Lemon", "Ginger Ale" and "Intense Ginger") received the German Design Award - also in this category.
