Margarita Belén is the capital of the Primero de Mayo department in the Chaco province in northern Argentina . It is located 21 kilometers north of the provincial capital Resistencia . In the classification of municipalities in the province of Chaco, it belongs to the 3rd category.
history
The place was founded in 1890 by immigrants from France and Trento ( Italy ). It is considered the cradle of agricultural cooperatives in Argentina.
In Margarita Belén on March 24, 1976, Argentine soldiers and police officers shot and killed 22 political prisoners in a joint operation.
