Margarito Flores García
Margarito Flores García , actually Joseph (José) Isabel Flores García , (born November 28, 1866 in Teúl , Zacatecas , Mexico ; † November 12, 1927 in Atenango del Río , Mexico) was a Catholic priest and martyr by the Catholic Church was canonized .
Life
Margarito Flores García was ordained a priest on July 26, 1896 . When in the course of the Mexican Revolution in 1925 the persecution of Catholic priests during Calles' presidency (1924–1928) began, he worked in the Catholic self-protection organization Liga Nacional para la Defensa de la Libertad Religiosa . During the turmoil he performed his priestly service in disguise. However, he was betrayed and arrested on June 18, 1927. After being tortured for several months, he was on 12 November executed .
Margarito Flores García was Pope John Paul II. On November 22, 1992 blessed and on 21 May 2000, accompanied by 24 other martyrs of the Revolution in Mexico canonized . His Catholic feast day is June 21.
