Margery Sharp

Clara Margery Melita Sharp (born January 25, 1905 in the Salisbury district (county of Wiltshire ), † March 14, 1991 ) was an English writer . She is particularly known for her children's books about Miss Bianca, an adventurous mouse lady.

Life

She was born Clara Margery Melita Sharp in the Salisbury County, Wiltshire . She spent part of her childhood in Malta . In 1938 she married the engineer major and writer Jeffery Lloyd Castle

She published her first novel , Rhododendron Pie, in 1930. In her long career, she wrote 26 adult novels, numerous short stories , a few plays and 14 children's books.

Many of her works turned out to be international bestsellers , and almost all of them were also translated into German .

Some of her works also served as templates for films . Ernst Lubitsch filmed The Girl Cluny Brown ( Cluny Brown, 1944) in 1946 under the title Cluny Brown on Free Feet . The best known is probably the Walt Disney - Cartoons Rescuers - The Rescuers (1977) provided on Bianca and her friends ( The Rescuers, based 1959). The two main characters were then used again in Bernard and Bianca im Kangaroo Land (1990).
