Margot Scheufele-Osenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Margot Scheufele-Osenberg (née Osenberg; * 1913 ; † 2005 ) was a German respiratory therapist and created a basic work on breathing technology, the fourth edition of which has now been published as a study book. In addition, she acted temporarily as an actress with additional piano and vocal studies.

Life

After graduating from high school, theater director Louise Dumont brought 17-year-old Margot Osenberg to the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. In addition to her work at the Schauspielhaus, she studied for two and a half years at the Dumont-Lindemann School of Drama . Then until 1941 she worked as a character actress with a change to the classical subject on several stages in Germany. In 1942 she married and had three children. She turned down multiple offers to go back to work after the war; she wanted to find herself first .

She completed a year and a half of training and internship at the Wörishofener breathing school, and one and a half years of training and internship in "Functional Respiratory Therapy" with Julius Parow in the Friedenweiler sanatoria. In the meantime, she continued her training with Grantly Dick-Read in preparation for childbirth and in the Lamaze method in Paris. In 1958 the "Breathing School" was founded in Düsseldorf. From 1961 she turned to the sick again, among other things with "functional respiratory therapy " for asthma and emphysema . In 1988 the "Düsseldorfer Atemhaus" opened, where she also accommodated schools with other breathing directions as guests and, at the request of her late teacher Julius Parow, founded a teaching institute for further training in "functional respiratory therapy". Initially, the first focus of her work was in the field of asthma and emphysema, later the main content of her work became the "basic breathing training" for singers, instrumentalists and speakers. Since 1993 she has given lectures at various music academies and music schools. From 1994 she was appointed as a lecturer at the Folkwang University in Essen for the subject of "breathing technology".

Other technical schools also demanded her practical and theoretical support and so she received teaching assignments at the music academies in Freiburg , Trossingen and Basel , at the Academy for Tonkunst in Darmstadt and at the Leverkusen Music School.

Pierre W. Feit , professor of oboe at the Folkwang University in Essen, writes in the foreword to her basic work "Breathing Basic Training" among other things:

“The lack of knowledge of the fundamentals of physical and respiratory technology, which made it clear how much the subject“ basic training in breathing technology ”is lacking as a“ compulsory subject ”at conservatoires, was shocking. The book now available here ... is a guide for every seeker. "

In his capacity as dean, Pierre W. Feit also arranged for the system of basic training according to Parow and Scheufele-Osenberg to be introduced in 1993 in Essen as the first German music college in breathing technology for instrumental teachers in the specialty "wind instruments".
