Marguerite Lescop

Marguerite Lescop (born November 8, 1915 in Longueuil as Marguerite Geoffrion , † April 3, 2020 in Montreal ) was a Canadian author and publisher .

Life

Marguerite Lescop's writing career began after the death of her French husband René Lescop. This was a professor at the Collège Stanislas in Outremont . She began taking writing courses and at the age of 80 she self- published her autobiography Le Tour de ma vie en 80 ans . The book became a national hit, selling over 100,000 copies in Canada. It was awarded the Audience Prize at the Salon du livre de Montréal book fair . After this success she founded her own publishing house with éditions Lescop and published two more books with En effeuillant la Marguerite and Les Épîtres de Marguerite .

In 2001 she was awarded the Order of Canada by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson for her old age life achievement .

On April 3, 2020, Lescop died at the age of 104 in a Montreal retirement home during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada as a result of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
