Marguerite Merentié
Marguerite Merentié (born 1880 ; died after 1912) was a French opera singer with a soprano voice .
Life
Marguerite Merentié studied at the Conservatoire National Paris and worked at the Grand Opéra Paris from 1905 . She made her debut as Chimène in Le Cid by Jules Massenet . In 1909 she sang as a first role at the Opéra-Comique , the Carmen . She was frequently engaged at the Monte Carlo Opera, where she sang Flora in La Traviata and Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto in 1908 .
In 1906 she sang at the Théâtre Nouveau Paris in the world premiere of the opera Le Clown by Isaac de Camondo and on December 15, 1911 at the Opéra-Comique in the opera Bérénice by Albéric Magnard . In 1908 she appeared as a guest at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels . In 1909 she gave a single performance at La Scala in Milan for the Italian premiere of the opera Théodora by Xavier Leroux . In 1918 she took over the role of Fanny Legrand in the 100th performance of the opera Sapho von Massenet at the Opéra-Comique . After 1919, when she was announced as Mme Lange in La Fille de Mme Angot by Charles Lecocq , no more appearances are recorded.
At Pathé she played the title role in the first complete recording of the opera Carmen in 1912 .
