The Roman Catholic parish church of the Virgin Mary in Dorlar was consecrated on December 11, 1955. It is the only Catholic church in the municipality of Lahnau in the Lahn-Dill district in Hesse .

history

Until the Reformation was Mittelhessen Catholic. Thus, through the influence of St. Bonifatius founded the Amöneburg Monastery in this region in 721. The Dorlar Monastery was founded in 1297, which became Protestant after the Reformation. So there was no Catholic church in Dorlar for around 400 years. Only when Catholic refugees came to the Lahn-Dill district after the Second World War was a Catholic pastor ordered to Dorlar again in 1948 . In 1950, construction began on the rectory and in June 1955 on the church, which was completed that same year.
