Maria-Christine Zauzich

Maria-Christine Zauzich (* 1944 ; † August 2, 2009 ) was a German journalist.

She studied political science in Munich and London . Since the 1970s she worked as a journalist for various media; from 1979 as news editor for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung ( FAZ ); then responsible for the section "Theology and Church" in the weekly newspaper Rheinischer Merkur / Christ und Welt.

Since 1986 Zauzich worked as a freelance journalist in Latin America . She has lived in Guatemala since 1988 , where she was the head of the development policy initiative Schipendienwerk Guatemala - "Projekt Samenkorn / Proyecto Ija'tz" with the aim of professional and / or scientific qualification for young Mayans .

Maria-Christine Zauzich has authored several television documentaries , books and studies on political and religious topics. As a freelancer, she was involved in development organizations that operate in Latin America.

Maria-Christine Zauzich was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2006 .

Maria-Christine Zauzich drowned on August 2, 2009 near the seaside resort of Monterrico on the Guatemalan Pacific coast .
