Maria is a municipality ( municipalité ) in the MRC Avignon in the southeast of the Canadian Quebec .
It is located 580 km northeast of the provincial capital Québec on the south coast of the Gaspésie peninsula near the mouth of the Rivière Verte in the Baie des Chaleurs .
The population was 2615 at the 2016 census. The area of the municipality covers 95.09 km².
