Maria Aasen-Svensrud

Maria-Karine Aasen-Svensrud (born February 22, 1980 in Horten ) is a Norwegian politician of the social democratic party Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She has been a member of the Storting since 2017 .

Life

Aasen-Svensrud trained as a kindergarten teacher in her home town from 1998 to 2000. Then she attended secondary school and in 2001 she began studying sociology at Vestfold University . From 2002 to 2004 she studied child education at the University of Stavanger . Until 2006 she worked for student organizations before she became head of the youth organization Ungdom mot narkotika (German: youth against drugs ). Aasen-Svensrud worked as a pre-school teacher from 2008 to 2009 before returning to Vestfold University. There she received an interdisciplinary master's degree in social sciences in 2013. She then started working as a teacher at a secondary school.

Aasen-Svensrud was a member of the local parliament of Horten from 2011 to 2019. In the 2013 general election , she ran for a seat in the Norwegian national parliament in Storting , but missed the move. Finally, in the next election in September 2017 , she received a mandate for the constituency of Vestfold . Aasen-Svensrud then became a member of the Justice Committee.
