Maria Antonia Anna von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (born November 10, 1760 in Hechingen ; † July 25, 1797 ibid) was a princess of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and, by marriage, princess of Fürstenberg .

Life

Maria Antonia Anna was the only surviving child of Prince Josef Friedrich Wilhelm von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (1717–1798) from his second marriage to Maria Theresia (1732–1802), daughter of Count Franz Ernst von Waldburg zu Zeil and Wurzach .

She married on January 15, 1778 in Hechingen Joseph Maria Benedikt (1758–1796), since 1783 the seventh Prince of Fürstenberg. Maria Anna's father was the groom's guardian in his youth. The marriage contract was concluded on October 27, 1777 and contained an explanatory recess with the proper care of the bride and groom, who were related in the fourth degree, which is why a papal dispensation for marriage was issued.

Maria Anna Antonia was described as brave, decisive and witty, but who only shared a passion for music with her husband. Despite her fondness for hunting, riding exercises, dance and acting, the princess was outwardly misshapen, small, “ humpbacked and one-hoofed ” and her face was discolored “ copper-like ”. The disharmony in the marriage increased at times to such an extent that Maria Anna's father-in-law added a separation clause to the marriage contract. The marriage remained childless.

After her husband's death, she compared herself with his brother and successor, Prince Karl Joachim, about her widow's income and returned to her parents' court in Hechingen. She died a year later of pneumonia complicated by her " squeezed and unnatural physique ". She was buried in the collegiate church in Hechingen.
