Maria Azova (born November 18, 1983 ) is an Uzbek classical violinist .

Life

Maria Azova received her first violin lessons from her mother at the age of five. Already at the age of six she appeared in public concerts. From 1991 to 2001 she was taught by Nathan Mendelssohn at the Uspensky Music High School in Tashkent . From 2001 to 2005 Maria studied with Walter Forchert at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts . Since 2005 she has been studying with Josef Rissin at the University of Music in Karlsruhe .

As a soloist she has played with the Museum Orchestra in the Frankfurt Opera House , the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México, the Romance Orchestra Filarmonica di Bacau and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic.

She worked with conductors such as Paolo Carignani , Enrique Batiz, Ovidiu Balan, Hans Drewanz , Werner Stiefel, Félix Carrasco, Armando Vargas and Pavel Baleff.

Maria Azova took part in numerous master classes such as with Igor Oistrach , Alberto Lysy, Grigory Zhislin, Gerhard Mantel , Saschko Gawriloff and Rainer Kussmaul .

Honors

She won several prizes at international violin competitions. For example the Alois Kottmann Prize in Frankfurt am Main, the second prize at the Michelangelo Abbado Competition in Milan and the bronze medal at the Henryk Szeryng Violin Competition in Mexico in November 2008.

She has received various grants and awards, including a grant from the Mayor of Baden-Baden and the Ruth Flesch Memorial Prize in Baden-Baden, and she was supported by the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Frankfurt am Main association .
