The culture prize serves to promote the violin tradition of Carl Flesch , which was shaped in Frankfurt am Main and which so far had its most important representatives in Alma Moodie and Max Rostal . When awarding the prize, particular emphasis is placed on classical discipline, an artistic and stylistic penetration of the performed works and a high pitch of the tone that characterizes and characterizes the personality.

You can recognize important violinists by their tone, but this is often no longer possible with youngsters today. What you hear from them is played brilliantly, but without any recognizable personality. The violin was invented because humans can also sing on it. "

- Alois Kottmann
