Maria Tilde Bettetini (born February 15, 1962 in Milan ; † October 13, 2019 there ) was an Italian philosopher .

Life

Maria Bettetini was a professor of medieval philosophy at the Università Ca 'Foscari Venezia . Bettetini began researching the phenomenon of lies in 1994 . From 2001 she taught aesthetics at the IULM University in Milan. Her Italian publication about the lie appeared for the first time in 2001 with new editions in 2004 and 2008. This was followed by translations into German, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese and Turkish.

Maria Bettetini translated works by Augustine of Hippo from Latin into Italian. This also included the translation of the work on the lie (De Mendacio) . She also wrote regularly on cultural issues in the Sunday edition of the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore .
