Il Sole 24 Ore ( Italian. The sun 24 hours ) is one of the most widely read business newspapers in Italy and is based in Milan . Together with the other two daily newspapers La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera, it is one of the leading media in the country.

Il Sole 24 Ore emerged in 1965 from the merger of the two newspapers Il Sole (founded in 1865) and 24 Ore (founded in 1946). By keeping the old locations, it has two main editorial offices, one in Milan and one in Rome . Further editorial offices are located in Naples , Turin , Florence , Bologna , Genoa , Trieste , Padua , Palermo and Bari . From January 2005 to the beginning of 2011 Ferruccio De Bortoli was director of Il Sole 24 Ore , on March 23, 2011 Roberto Napoletano succeeded him. The newspaper belongs to Confindustria , the largest Italian employers' organization.

The newspaper

The focus of the newspaper is on economics, politics, trade and labor law. Stock market data and expert opinions on the international financial markets are included in the supplement Finanza e Mercati ( Finance and Market ).

In contrast to the other Italian daily newspapers, the social part takes a back seat at Il Sole 24 Ore . However, the newspaper is seen as a reliable source of information for entrepreneurs, investors and managers. Of greater importance, however, is the features section , which is generally one of the most qualitatively demanding in the Italian newspaper landscape.

The Il Sole 24 Ore publishing group

In addition to the daily newspaper, the Il Sole 24 Ore publishing group publishes a wide range of magazines that are supplied with the newspaper as supplements.

  • Nordovest, Nordest, Centronord, Sud ( northwest, northeast, center-north, south ) - supplements that deal with local economic, cultural and political events (lead: Luca Orlando).
