Maurizio Ferraris

Maurizio Ferraris (born February 7, 1956 in Turin ) is an Italian philosopher.

Life

Maurizio Ferraris is Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Turin and Director of LabOnt (Laboratory for Ontology). In 1995 Ferraris published the new Italian translation of Friedrich Nietzsche's The Will to Power . He also translated the key text Die Kehre by Martin Heidegger .

He writes for the daily La Repubblica , is editor of Rivista di Estetica and co-editor of Critique and Revue francophone d'esthétique .

Ferraris was a Fellow of the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies at Columbia University , the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation , 2013/14 at the Käte-Hamburger-Kolleg "Law as Culture" , Directeur d'études at the Collège international de philosophie in Paris and visiting professor the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris , as well as at other universities. In the 2018 summer semester he was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Julian Nida-Rümelin's chair .

Ferraris is the author of over forty monographs, some of which have been translated into several languages. In philosophy he is one of the founders of New Realism .

He is hosting a television program on Rete Cinque .
