Maria Clara Lucchetti Bingemer
Maria Clara Lucchetti Bingemer (* 1949 ) is a Brazilian , Catholic theologian.
Life
Lucchetti Bingemer completed her studies in Rio de Janeiro with a BA in communication studies . She received a doctorate in theology from the Gregorian in Rome . After Leonardo Boff was banned from speaking and teaching , she represented Boff at his chair in the Franciscan Theological Institute in Petrópolis . She was EATWOT's Regional Coordinator from 1986–1992 . She is currently professor at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Human Sciences. Lucchetti Bingemer also took part in setting up the Jesuit Centro Loyola de Fé e Cultura (CLFC, Loyola Center for Faith and Culture) at the PUC-Rio, which she directed for ten years.
Lucchetti Bingemer is co-editor of the Revista Eclesiástica Brasileira (REB), the most important theological journal in Brazil, and of Concilium . She was also Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion (JAAR) from 2004 to 2008 .
Together with her husband Einardo Bingemer, she advises the National Bishops' Conference of Brazil on questions of lay apostolate . Lucchetti Bingemer holds a leading position in the Ignatian lay community of Christian Life .

Lucchetti Bingemer is one of the founders of feminist liberation theology in Latin America. She takes the view that the liberation struggle of Latin American women is inseparable from the liberation struggle of the poor, and she particularly endeavors to develop a feminist-theological anthropology . Lucchetti Bingemer organized the first meeting of Latin American theologians in 1985 and in 2008 also took part in the 1st German-Latin American theological congress in Buenos Aires .
In 2008 she criticized (together with Leonardo Boff and Frei Betto ) Clodovis Boff's attempt to revise liberation theology .
