The parish church Maria Himmelfahrt in Dexheim , a local community in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was built in a neo-Gothic style in 1912/13 according to plans by Ludwig Becker and consecrated on September 18, 1913 by Bishop Georg Heinrich Maria Kirstein .

Church building

After the end of the War of the Palatinate Succession in 1707, as part of the Palatinate church division, the existing St. Martin's Church was awarded to the Reformed majority of the population by drawing lots .

As a result, the Dexheim Catholics had to go to the nearby Niersteiner or Oppenheimer church for more than 200 years . Finally, in 1890, the Nierstein pastor Franz Wilhelm applied to the Episcopal Ordinariate in Mainz for the renewal of the independent parish in Dexheim. The establishment of a church fund brought in an amount after 22 years with which the hall church could be started. At that time 210 Catholics lived in Dexheim.

In 2013, the parish of the Assumption of Mary celebrated the centenary festival of its listed church.
