Maria Louise Kirk
Maria Louise Kirk (born June 21, 1860 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania ; died June 21, 1938 ) was an American illustrator and painter .
Kirk studied art in Philadelphia , first at the School of Design for Women , then at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts . During her career she illustrated over 50 books. Her work is stylistically independent and little influenced by Art Nouveau or Art Deco .
