Maria Neculiță

Maria Neculiță (born March 30, 1974 in Deva ) is a former Romanian gymnast .

In 1990 Neculiță took part in the European Championships for the first time . In Athens she won the bronze medal on the balance beam. She was also fifth on the floor and sixth in the all-around. At the 1991 World Championships , Neculiță won bronze with the Romanian team.

In 1992 she was able to win two individual medals at the World Championships . On the balance beam she was second with the Chinese Li Yifang and in floor exercise she shared third place with Tetjana Lyssenko . In the same year Neculiță took part in the Olympic Games . In Barcelona she won the silver medal with the Romanian team behind the United Team. In addition, she started in the individual all-around, in floor exercise, in horse jumping, on the balance beam and on the uneven bars, but could not reach a final.

After retiring from active sport in 1993, Neculiță became a coach in Italy.
