Maria Neuhauser-Loibl

Maria Neuhauser-Loibl (born February 26, 1906 in Kienberg near Gaming in Lower Austria , † June 1, 1985 in Vienna ) was an Austrian poet, translator and writer.

Life

Maria Neuhauser was born as the daughter of a railway official. She studied at the University of Vienna , where she received her doctorate on the stage of Vienna in 1935 with the Gerhart Hauptmann dissertation . From 1925 to 1933 she was a secretary at Vorwärts-Verlag . She published in the social democratic press. In 1933 she was a member of the Association of Socialist Writers . In 1938, however, she published in the Confession Book of Austrian Poets , published by the Association of German Writers, allied with the Nazis .

She wrote poetry, short stories, plays. First she published under the name Maria Neuhauser, after she had married Hans Loibl, under the name Maria Neuhauser-Loibl. She also worked as a translator from Norwegian. She was a member of the Association of Women Academics in Austria , the Anton Wildgans Society and the Austrian Writers' Association .
