Maria Oikonomou

Maria Oikonomou ( Greek Μαρία Οικονόμου [ ikɔˈnɔmu ], also Maria Oikonomou-Meurer ; * 1968 in Ioannina , Greece ) is a Greek neo-Graecist and university assistant at the University of Vienna .

Life

After studying philology at the University of Ioannina (1986-1990) and the study of general and comparative literature , Italian philology and theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (1992-1998), she with the Master of Arts graduated, started she did a doctoral degree at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the subjects of general and comparative literature and neo-Greek studies , which she completed in 2004 with a doctorate .

In the meantime, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Byzantine Studies, Byzantine Art History and Neo-Greek Studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 2001 to 2007 and was involved in the organization and implementation of the distance-learning course "European Literature and Culture" from 2004 to 2009. University of Thessaloniki participated.

In the 2007/08 winter semester she was a visiting professor at the Institute for Byzantine and Neo-Greek Studies at the University of Vienna , and has been a university assistant there ever since. She is working on a habilitation project on the poetics of migration using the example of modern Greek literature .

Research priorities

Oikonomou works on modern Greek literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, migration research, the reception and theory of myths, intermediality and translatology .
