Maria Polydouri ( Greek Μαρία Πολυδούρη , born April 1, 1902 in Kalamata , † April 30, 1930 in Athens ) was a Greek author .

Life

Maria Polydouri, born in 1902 in Kalamata (Peloponnese). First publication of a poem at 14. 1918 Graduated from high school, began training in the administration of Messinia. Interested in the "women's question". The parents died in quick succession in 1920. Training as an employee. Studied at the University of Attica. Meets the poet Kostas Karyotakis and begins a relationship with him. Published poems in several magazines from 1922, began to write a diary. 1925 dropping out of university. Finishes her diary. Separation from Karyotakis, with whom Polydouri still has contact. Takes acting classes. 1926 trip to Parisand a degree in tailoring from the Pigier School. From 1927 on, she repeatedly stayed in sanatoriums because of her TB disease; there also encounter with Jannis Ritsos . 1928 return to Athens, publishes her cycle of poems "Triplets that fade away". Learns about Karyotakis' suicide. 1929 Publication of the cycle of poems "Klang und Chaos". Dies in late April 1930.
