Maria Rowohlt

Maria Rowohlt (born Maria Pierenkämper ; born June 5, 1910 in Bochum ; † April 11, 2005 in Hamburg ) was a German actress.

Life

Maria Pierenkämper graduated from the secondary school in Bochum and trained as an actor with Saladin Schmitt in Bochum. She worked as an actress in the 1930s and 1940s , initially at the Schillertheater in Berlin and at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . She was also on stage in Bochum, Gera, Essen, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg. Later she occasionally worked as a film actress.

In her third marriage, she was married to the painter Max Rupp when she had her son Harry Rowohlt from the publisher and bookseller Ernst Rowohlt in 1945 . It was not until the mid-1950s that she divorced Rupp and in 1957 married Rowohlt, who was over 20 years her senior and who died in 1960.

Maria Rowohlt died in Hamburg in 2005 at the age of 94.
