Maria Solozobova ( Russian Мария Солозобова , Marija Solosobowa ; born April 22, 1979 in Moscow ) is a Russian violinist living in Switzerland .

Life

Maria Solozobova was born in Moscow, her parents are physicists and mathematicians, and her grandfather Nikolaj Zubov was an important aircraft developer at Tupolev . Classical music was very popular with the whole family. Maria already amazed as a child with her musical talent. She first learned the piano, then the violin. She made good progress quickly that her first teacher decided to enter her in the national competition for young musicians of Russia, where she won a first prize.

She then trained at the Gnessin Music School for gifted children in Moscow and studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory , where she received her concert diploma with distinction in 2004. She finished her studies at the Zurich University of Music and Theater with Zakhar Bron and at the Basel Music Academy with Raphael Oleg, where she completed her soloist diploma with distinction in 2008. Maria Solozobova plays an Italian violin made by Nicolo Gagliano in 1728.

Artistic importance and awards

Maria Solozobova released her debut CD in 2007 with works by Tchaikovsky and Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst .

Maria Solozobova is the winner of several international music competitions:

  • First prize and the Special Audience Prize at the international Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria (2000)
  • Second prize in the international competition in Portugal (2002), where she again received the Special Audience Prize for best interpretation
  • First prize at the WAMozart competition in Zurich, under the patronage of the Duttweiler-Hug Foundation (2005)
  • Second prize at the chamber music competition "Jeunesses Musicales" Switzerland, with the trio EMI (2006)
  • Prize winner at the 40th international Tibor Varga competition in Switzerland (2006)
  • Prize winner at the Rodolfo Lipizer Prize International Violin Competition in Italy (2007)

Smirnov and the cellists D. Geringas, Sol Gabetta and the violinists A. Lysy, I. Bochkova and H. Schneerberger.
