Seppi Käppeli

Seppi Käppeli (born May 16, 1976 in Solothurn ) is a Swiss jazz musician (trombone, composition).

Live and act

Käppeli played various brass instruments during his school and apprenticeship days as a machine draftsman, initially cornet , then baritone horn and finally euphonium . At the age of twenty he began to learn the trombone with Pia Bucher and prepared for the entrance exam for the Lucerne Jazz School . There he studied jazz trombone with Robert Morgenthaler until 2005 . In addition, he studied composition and arrangement with Ed Neumeister and David Angel (2005; grade very good). In addition, Seppi Käppeli was honored with a performance recognition award from the Axelle and Max Koch Cultural Foundation for an “outstanding diploma concert with compositions and arrangements of his own handwriting, excellently implemented”. He led the band Antiseppic , which performed his compositions at the Willisau Jazz Festival in 2004 and later also in Germany. He also played in the big band of the MHS Lucerne, which u. a. has appeared with Django Bates , Kenny Wheeler , Irène Schweizer and Michael Mossman , and is a member of the Ballbreaker Ensemble , Hangnah and Heidi Happy & Band.
