Maria Tatar
Maria Magdalene Tatar (born May 13, 1945 in Pressath ) is an American Germanist who specializes in children's literature.

Life
Maria Tatar's family emigrated from Hungary to the United States in the 1950s . She grew up in Highland Park, Illinois and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1963. Tatar received his PhD from Princeton University in 1971 . In 1971 she moved to Harvard University , where she has been teaching since 1978. She is the John L. Loeb Professor of Germanic Languages and Literature.
In 2019 Tatar received the Brothers Grimm Prize from the Philipps University of Marburg .
