Brothers Grimm Prize from the Philipps University of Marburg

The Brothers Grimm Prize of the Philipps University of Marburg has been awarded by the Philipps University of Marburg since 1943 . It is awarded every two years in memory of the Brothers Grimm and “in recognition of their entire scientific work”. With this award , the university honors “outstanding achievements in the research areas of the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm ..., in particular linguistics and literary studies, folklore, legal history and historical studies” (quoted from the statutes). The prize, which is donated by the State of Hesse , consists of a medal with a portrait of the Brothers Grimm, a certificate and a donation of 5,000 euros.

The jury includes the President of the University of Marburg, representatives of the individual subjects (German studies, literary studies, history, law, European ethnology) and the Brothers Grimm Society .
