Erik Rooth

Erik Gustaf Teodor Rooth (born April 22, 1889 in Degerfors , Sweden, † March 14, 1986 in Lund ) was a Swedish specialist in German .

Rooth studied from 1909 to 1919 at the Universities of Bonn and Uppsala and received his doctorate in Uppsala in 1919. He taught as a private lecturer in Lund and Uppsala and was professor for the German language at Lund University from 1932 to 1954.

Rooth taught German, Dutch and Frisian philology. He was a member of numerous scientific societies. In 1952 he received the Brothers Grimm Prize from the Philipps University of Marburg .
