history

The chapel from 1641 was built as the Loreto chapel . In 1692 the choir and a western extension were added. In the course of a redesign in 1760, plastered ceilings were drawn into the nave and choir and a new altar was erected. Above the choir arch is the coat of arms of the Kempten prince abbot Honorius Roth von Schreckenstein . According to an inscription above the choir, the last renovations were made in 1911 and 1977.

construction

The chapel has an unusual shape due to the western part with a sign , the white shingled north side and the wood shingled roof turret with bell and onion domes are striking.

Furnishing

The frescoes in the chapel were probably made around 1760. The birth of Christ can be seen in the choir, while Mary is depicted as intercessor with the fourteen helpers in the nave . The altar painting from 1741 comes from the Kempten painter Johann Martin Zick and shows the so-called Holy Kinship . It is fitted into a playful white and gold rococo frame from around 1760. To the side of the choir arch are two paintings instead of the worn side altars. The left picture shows the blood miracle of Walldürn (around 1760), on the right a Pietà by Andreas Mayr (painter) from the late 19th century can be seen as Maria Trost picture .
