Marian Cezary Abramowicz

Marian Cezary Abramowicz (born October 29, 1937 in Białobłoty in the Gizałki parish , † March 5, 1997 in Biała Królikowska in the Gizałki parish) was a Polish poet and novelist.

Life

After the death of his father in 1938 and his mother in 1939, Abramowicz grew up with his grandmother. After graduating from primary school in 1948, he worked in Konin from 1950 to 1951 as an administrative clerk and attended evening high school. He then moved to Warsaw , where he was able to attend the general high school thanks to a grant from the Pax Association ( Stowarzyszenie Pax ). After only a year he went to Płock , where he worked in the city administration and attended evening grammar school. In 1952 he joined the Salesians , took the oath in 1953 and studied at the Department of Philosophy and Psychology of the Salesians in Woźniaków.

For health reasons he left the order in 1957 and worked in Tychy . After a long stay in a sanatorium against tuberculosis from 1959 to 1962 in Prabuty , he received a disability pension. After a year, however, he gave up this pension and in 1964 worked in the forestry of Biała Królikowska. He spent the years 1965 to 1966 again in a sanatorium against tuberculosis in Sokołowsko and received a disability pension again.

As a poet he made his debut with the poem Wrzosowisko , which appeared in Tygodnik Kulturalny in 1966 . In the following years he devoted himself to writing and in 1969 joined the Union of Polish Writers . In addition, he was committed to social and cultural life in the country. From 1975 to 1979 he was the director of the Giziałki Community Cultural Center. From 1988 to 1989 he published his poems in the newspapers and magazines Gazeta Poznańska , Tygodnik Ludowy and Nurt .

He died on March 5, 1997 in Biała Królikowska.
