Marian von Bardowick
Marian von Bardowick († November 3, 782 in Bardowick near Lüneburg ) was a deacon and messenger of faith on the lower Elbe . He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .
Together with Egistius , the martyr Marian was probably a pupil of Willehads von Bremen . He was slain by pagans during the bloodily suppressed Saxony uprising in 782 .
Until the Reformation his relics were in Bardowick , where a church was dedicated to him, and in Verden .
The name is widespread in Poland, but also in the Czech Republic.
