Marianne Baum

Marianne Baum born Cohn (born February 9, 1912 in Saarburg , † August 18, 1942 in Berlin-Plötzensee ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .

She joined the Communist Youth Association (KJVD) around 1930 . Together with her husband Herbert Baum , whom she had known since her youth, she led the "Herbert Baum Group", a Jewish resistance group in Berlin. After the successful attack on the anti-communist propaganda exhibition The Soviet Paradise on May 18, 1942 in Berlin's Lustgarten , the group was exposed and many members were arrested. After her quick conviction, Marianne Baum was executed on August 18, 1942 in the Berlin-Plötzensee prison . She was the sister of Lothar Cohn , with whom she sometimes worked together in the group.
