Marianne Brinckmeier

Marianne Brinckmeier (born June 4, 1940 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). The journalist was Vice-President of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1989 to 2001 and Chair of the SFB Broadcasting Council from 1993 to 2003. She has been the city ​​elder of Berlin since 2008 .

Life and work

Friedrich Dethlefs' daughter spent her childhood and youth in Hamburg. After graduating from high school in 1960, Brinckmeier studied economics in Hamburg, Munich and Berlin. She then worked as a freelance journalist. From 1966 until his death she was married to the German politician Jürgen Brinckmeier (1935–1984). The football-loving politician has been a member of HSV since 1951 .

Political party

In 1957 Marianne Brinckmeier joined the SPD. From 1976 to 1984 she was a department head in Berlin-Neukölln. In 1988 Brinckmeier was elected deputy state chairman. Two years later she was confirmed in this function at the first joint party conference of the West and East Berlin SPD . She remained deputy chairwoman of the Berlin SPD for a total of six years. Brinckmeier was a district and state delegate for many years. She is currently a member of the Arbitration Commission in the SPD Neukölln.

Marianne Brinckmeier began her political career in the Neukölln District Assembly . There she was a member from 1971 to 1979, from 1975 to 1979 also as deputy group leader. In 1979 Brinckmeier moved to the Berlin House of Representatives, of which she was a member until 2001. In 1989 Marianne Brinckmeier became Vice-President of the Berlin House of Representatives and remained so until 2001.
